Cost of living
The Victorian Budget 2026/27 delivers practical cost of living relief for millions of Victorians — including free public transport until the end of May, followed by half-price fares until the end of the year.
The Budget also delivers 20 per cent off rego through a rebate scheme, expanded support for free dental care and free glasses, and additional funding for food banks and financial counselling. Investments in roads and public transport will also help make everyday travel easier and more reliable.
Health
The Budget invests in faster access to care, delivering 4,000 more children’s surgeries and 45,000 additional specialist appointments to help reduce wait times.
Funding will support expanded hospital services, Urgent Care Clinics and a stronger health workforce — including more nurses, midwives and allied health professionals across Victoria.
Education
From Free Kinder and Free TAFE to new schools and upgrades, the Budget continues investing in Victoria’s education system to support families and reduce costs.
The Budget funds more Free TAFE places, new and upgraded schools in growing communities, and 22 new kindergartens alongside five new Early Learning Victoria centres.
Safety
The Budget delivers tougher action on violent crime alongside continued investment in prevention and community safety.
Funding includes more PSOs across the public transport network, faster court processes for serious youth offending, and continued investment in Victoria’s Violence Reduction Unit to help prevent crime before it starts.
Economy
With the Budget in surplus and Victoria’s economy continuing to grow, the Government is investing in jobs, infrastructure and essential services while supporting families through cost of living pressures.
The Budget continues major investments in transport, healthcare, education and community infrastructure while keeping debt reducing as a share of the economy.
