Hot cross buns and a big win for TAFE. 🎓
It was fantastic to celebrate the passage of the Free TAFE Guarantee Bill alongside baking and patisserie students from William Angliss Institute, who also showcased their famous hot cross buns in support of charity.
This legislation enshrines Free TAFE in law and requires at least 70% of government skills funding to be directed to TAFEs—ensuring the system continues to prioritise accessible, high-quality vocational education.
Since 2019, more than 229,000 students have benefited from Free TAFE, saving a total of $777 million in course fees—an average saving of around $3,390 per student.
This reform strengthens pathways into skilled jobs and ensures more Victorians can access the training they need without the barrier of upfront costs.
