Sudanese Mothers Coalition in Victoria

It was a pleasure to spend a wonderful afternoon last week with Monica Majak and the inspiring women of the Sudanese Mothers Coalition in Victoria (SMCV), joined by the Hon Natalie Suleyman MP, Member for St Albans, and former AFLW player Akec Makur Chuot.

SMCV plays a vital role in supporting young South Sudanese Australians who are involved or at risk of involvement in the youth justice system. Through shared cooking and meal distribution, these dedicated mothers offer not just food relief, but also a strong sense of cultural connection and community.

Backed by the Allan Labor Government’s Supporting South Sudanese Australian Communities grants program, organisations like SMCV are delivering essential support and care where it’s needed most.
