The Little Long Walk - Essendon Fields

10 July 2025 | 1 min read

It was an honour to join Deputy Premier Ben Carroll MP and Sheena Watt MP for a powerful gathering to mark 50 years of NAIDOC Week, proudly hosted by Essendon Fields and supported by The Long Walk.

The event brought together local businesses and community leaders from across the precinct to reflect on the significance of NAIDOC and celebrate the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We were deeply moved by the Welcome to Country from the incredible Aunty Pam Pedersen, who at 82 continues to walk strong — carrying forward the powerful legacy of her father Sir Douglas Nicholls and generations of proud Yorta Yorta people.
